How do I hook up an OEM CD changer?

My dad got this on ebay for fairly cheap to install in his 92 E30 vert. Is this something that I should be able to just dig around in the trunk a bit and find the cords for it sitting around or do I need to run cable up from the stock head unit? Did some searching before I asked and made the title very searchable so other members could use it for future reference. Thanks for any responses guys.

I have one. You have to wire it up on your own. These cars never came pre wired for them. You need the data cable that connects to head unit and changer and you have to wire up power to it. You could tap into the antenna for the pos. and neg.

Ever get this installed? I would like to go OEM/era correct with my changer.

Mine had a power that came from the head unit switched, and as mentioned you need the data bus cable.

Let me know if you find it and the part number. I would like to start gathering parts for the add on CD changer.

Make sure you have compatible units. For some STUPID reason bmw put out two Changer units and a number of different head units. Pioneer, Alpine and some Blaupunkt. Mostly Alpine. The head unit has to match the changer otherwise you won't get it working. I went through this problem already and confirmed this information being true. the Din plug/wire also has to have the correct pin "configuration" not just any din plug with the same number of pins. However! an easier solution to this, which I haven't gone forward with is to take a later model changer say from an e36 and use the e36 deck. it will work. As I found this out when buying a set up from a e30 IX. it was wired in and successfully working. I just never ended up installing this. I returned the deck I think. the e36 unit will fit into the dash space nicely.
