OK so I'm working through the wires I'll have to deal with to install my new remote starter. Now, quick question. In my manual, it says to:
Connect white wire (from remote starter control unit) to ignition switch wire that is hot in run, crank, and (sometimes) accessory. If there are two wires that fit that description, connect white/red wire (again from control unit) to the second wire. The manual refers to these as the "ignition wire".
Connect white/black wire (from control unit) to wire that is hot in run and on positions (this is where the manual becomes unclear, I'm assuming the 'on' position is the same as accessory? Or is this incorrect?). If there are two wires hot in run/on, connect the white/black wire (from control unit) to both. The manual refers to these as the "accessory wires".
Now my confusion sets in here: as far as I can tell (after looking through EVERY page in the ETM) my '90 iX (swapped to 5 speed, but retaining the original automatic start circuit, I know I know, but it has functional cruise w/o a ghetto switch at least) has no wires that are hot in just the 'run' and 'on' (which I assume means accessory) position. It has one wire (2.5 VI, C200 #4) that is hot in CRANK RUN and ACC, and another wire, (2.5 GN, C200 #2) that is hot in CRANK and RUN only.
SO my question is, should I wire both of these wires as "ignition wires" (following the steps in the second paragraph above) or wire the 2.5 GN wire as an ignition wire, and the 2.5 VI wire as an accessory wire (following the steps in the third paragraph above)?
Second question, why would the manual switch terms between 'on' and 'acc' like that? From my interpretation I'm certain they're referring to the same thing, but one must wonder...
I've got everything else figured out, including keyless entry, parking lights w/ diodes for the two separate circuits, and how to hook up my dome lights to come on with the unlock using a relay.
Thanks for any and all help.
