Looking at your pics Luke gives me an itch to go pull out all my old car audio equipment I have in storage and do a build.
This is the only time I wish I had a coupe instead of a vert.
Found an HU that fits the E30 !

3kW RMS is hilarious. 300W RMS will give me a headache, I don't know what I'd do with 3kW RMS.Leave a comment:

Eric, did you know I am currently building a tri-amped 5.1 (yes, true 5.1. Possible but stupid fun) CarPC system (nearly 3,000 watts RMS) with 2 electronic crossovers (even the center channel is tri-amped) E28 from hell?

It sounds pretty good so far, looking forward to hearing the 8" DVC woofers under the back seats. Pics to come sooner or later, this thing is silly.

It's not a Z1, couldn't find one with black face. it's a DTC-A100. It does aux in, and is good enough for me with the alpha processor. Pretty much overkill for the E28 since I still have to deal with the 4x6's in the front :( The combo was under a grand, but not much.
I have a euro center console that I was planning on having covered in leather to match the OEM M5's. I'm planning on replacing the cassette holders underneath the radio with a nice black anodized plate that matches the meters and also acts as a mounting plate for the meter. Our fab flight on base has a killer water jet machine, that i'd love to have them cut out a blank for me with some scrap metal.
I'm doing this for a few reasons.
1. I really, really don't like the vent thinge on the US spec E28's
2. I already have this euro center console which is different
3. I'm a glutton for odd things, so the meter just made me drool!
here's my euro E28's interior:

BTW guys I will go back to my standard Mantra: ALL head units suck...but some suck less than others.Leave a comment:

Ah ah ah,
Luke got a very personnal way of delivering his point of view, but he seems to be quite a Guru in E30 Audio.
If you like your Alpine, then keep it.
I will buy the one I said I will and I am sure I will be delighted,.

IIRC alpine 7995 was pretty fricking awesome for about $600 or so ? I had it hooked up to a pg titanium amp and some idq comps and subs and really like it...never had any problems...

Damnit Luke...you're making me hate my Alpine now. I've had it since 2006 and I really like it. :(

talking about Alpine since 2006 or so being shitty, and just because yours works fine does not mean Alpine has issues. Seriously, the least reliable of all major brands.This.
They may have a lot of ricer rainbow colors, but they still look better than the majority of other head units.
And wtf Luke, my Alpine has been rockin strong for like.....6 years or so...and still no problems...so I dunno what you're talkin about, reliability-wise..Leave a comment:
