No, the one with the infrared slider control from a '91 E30, typically.
So, tell us how much you dropped on the Z1 and the meter?

I so need to find a broken changer to see if I can figure out how to make an AUX for the Slider deck...
Slider deck... are you talking about a pull out? damn.
Here is a picture I just took of them together, They showed up in the mail today, so I'm a bit excited:crazy:
Sorry OP for the thread hijack.

Yup, the only thing I don't care for is the face thickness. It protrudes just a tad too much.
The deck controls volume for the ipod. I have a cable that has a usb and the audio plug for my ipod. I have that plugged into an adapter for power. That only leaves me with one cable I need to plug into my ipod, so it's not so bad.

If that Blau was 5mm "thinner" in the face I would get one and add some kind of USB controller. The whole "iPod on a string" does not get it for me, but lots of guys like it that way.
BTW: there is a adapter that will charge your iPod and give you audio out, but only a fixed volume...but your deck controls volume anyway, right?

YMMV.

1. Panasonic is/was easily my favorite, best build quality of any major brand, ever. Inarguably the most reliable aftermarket decks ever made, they just missed the mark in marketing and design.
2. Love how you guys post decks from 10 years ago and say "I love mine"...don't you think that is kinda dumb? How the hell is that gonna be useful input for Pierre here? Yes, that blau looks OK and is an awesome deck, but is nothing like the new stuff. That deck also has my absolute favorite feature that should be included on ALL car stereo ever..."FIX VOLUME" kicks ass.
3. As far as you guys who like the look of Alpine...well, WTF, I suppose it is your dashboard, right? I would be just as happy with the CD changer input on a "slider" converted to a AUX input myself...someone needs to get that handled!

Sorry, I don't think it gets much better than a Blaupunkt Madison
Pics stolen from Bimmerforums, but I have the same HU.

Hi George,
Thanks ofr you input.
I personally don't even have an Ipod, and I always listen to music from my USB stick in the car.
I keep my CDs for home use, that is why I have discounted all HU without USB reading facilities.
The look of this Alpine is timeless and will fit the E30 dash well. It is the cheapest model available in France at Euros 99.9
There is no need to start talking about musicality and audiophile experience, as I don't care.
This HU will be better than most of what was offered OEM or aftermarket in an E30 late eighties for a reasonnable price.
I will go for it, and I am sure i will be perfectly happy with it.
Cheers Pierre

Well yes, that is the whole point of buying a CD43 for a lot of people, but to each his own...
Cheers Pierre
