Well, got the head back on the E34 and all was shit. STILL violently overheating, STILL no heat, spent another 6 or 7 hours trying to diagnose...fuck it, the damn things gets JParkers old M20. I gotta get this damn thing on the road.

Box build is the next priority. I am gonna build first and then advertise, so be ready in about a week or so.

BTW: I need large hunks of cardboard 36"X48". Anyone get any ideas on how/where to get them EXCEPT bicycle shops, please PM me!

LUKE: cardboard sheets can be found at Costco... for free.

They will have thin ones (like cardstock) or thicker ones... ask nicely and any employee who looks like a stocker will be glad to let you have some. They are called "slip sheets" and they are usually best found in the foods area and in the back by the paper towels and stuff like that. They are used to separate layers of merchandise.

              Good luck.

The E34 just came back from its first freeway drive since 2008. Felt like warm poop, but it is HER car...it will be safe, smooth and clean in the next couple days. New heater core, new radiator all done, now I have to rebuild her speedo, as this one is different.

If anyone is thinking about getting an E34, do NOT buy any earlier than 1991. Trust me on this, there were some growing pains at BMW.

BTW: I appreciate the 'props, guys.

Luke, have you ever built your box with the port holes facing towards the speaker holes on the rear shelf? Would it work? (I got an M3 rear bench).

You must not have seen how the 12" box works...the ports on that do go through the top of the box. That design was the start of this whole thing and the actual prototype is in James Crivellones car, as it fitting. Pics of his build are somewhere on here.

One of the main design goals was "no cutting ANYTHING" and the 10" box does that flawlessly. The 12" box requires 2 holes precisely drilled through the rear deck. I cannot make a box deep enough without either wasting space (sorry, I don't do that) as it is too big for a 10"...thus the 12 box, which has less than 1/4" between the back wall of the box and the ports. There is a whole thread about all that stuff though.

Now, about your actual needs: the M3 seat is second only to the arm rest seat in bass performance when left unmodified. The early (coco-padded, that shredded crap) cloth is 3rd, Cloth+foam is 4th, Vinyl+foam 5th and what my car came with, leather with foam padding is worst.

I am kinda half-assed kicking around an idea of making a tunnel, shaped like the ski pass, made of MDF and wrapped in black (or whatever) vinyl that would require chopping a hole through the back seat...but it would have to be sexy and nice, but I could also incorporate a drink holder and an armrest!

How much does a 12" box weight approx? I just stripped out the system in my car the PO had installed and it was heavy as fuck, but that Included a 1000W amp, capacitors, and two 12's. Sounded great but it was not efficient, had no trunk.

Is a 12 box much heavier than a 10? Looking for my next step. Thx

12" box is almost 50 pounds empty, 10" box is 35 pounds.

If your car had trunk tar, that weighed 57 pounds...so you can re-achieve proper weight balance!

Awesome Thanks. However I got an m30 up front so I guess I could use a little junk in the trunk! Definitely going with the 12, and when I have the money I'll get a remote start from you as well!
