Broken front speaker. What do I need?

    UPDATE ON POST #6

So my front right speaker just stopped working. I have factory premium speakers up front. The tweeter still works though, just the midrange stopped. I am guessing the speaker just died from age.

I heard that the crossover for the tweeter is built into the midrange speaker. Is ALL I need to buy is a new front speaker and swap it out? I am unsure how the connection works with a speaker like this. Is it just a simple two wires like most speakers?

    Thanks!

No, that built in crossover makes it a hassle.

There are 3 wires: positive and negative in, then tweeter positive out. The tweeter connects to negative further down the harness, just so you know.

So as for getting a replacement I only need to buy a speaker because the crossover is physically attached to the speaker?

Three wires doesn't seem to bad as I won't be messing with the tweeter at all.

You would be well served to just find another decent premium.

            UPDATE!

So I replaced the speaker with another one. Same thing as before, the front speaker will cut out but the tweeter will work 90% of the time. It seems like a wiring issue. I bought the car with the CD deck it has now. The factory amp was deleted. I can't think of why the tweeter will work but the lower speaker wont. I thought the tweeter got its signal from the speaker? Any thoughts before I just start tearing stuff up?
