    Cool idea I thought of

So today I was programming dad's Volvo's HomeLink garage opener and the idea of integrating it into the e30 would be pretty cool. I found a homelink setup from an e38/e32 and it looks like it would work. Two wires that come out are power/ground. Here is a picture of the unit.

Any input? Do you think it would work?

I had installed one from a e39 into my old e30. Was pretty slick.

I don't see why not. I integrated the Genie one that came with my garage door..hooked up to constant 12v. Separate button that goes to my recessed cup holder (where the front ash tray was)

Yeah, a couple years back I was just going to rewire one to one of the switches from the garage opener to someting like the emergency switch and make it into a momentary switch. But I have no need to open the garage door.

Thanks guys for the input. If everything goes well, a DIY will be put up in the DIY section.

There/'s one from a newer Mercedes which is flat that can be used. I bought it off ebay for 25 bucks. It's 2 wire and worked great

haha, is this the one in the visor?
My dad gave me that task to do like 8 years ago, and It took my hours to get it done.
                    ...I was like ten though

But yeah, seems like a great idea. I have my gate opener and my garage door opener on my passenger side visor, and it looks rather cluttered.

Thanks guys. All I did was use a dremel to cut out the hole. Then I attached the positive and negative wire to the overhead check panel. Took me about 45 min.
