just installed components and low sound...?

So I just installed a component speaker on the drivers kickpanel. Sound is really low compared to the stock passenger side.

This is on a cabrio with premium sound system and oem amp. any ideas??

    Your question is too vague.

Low as in "low frequency" or low as in 3" off the floor...or is it quieter that the other side?

What speaker? Don't say "component" say exactly what brand and model, please. Did you run new wires? What did you do to make the tweeter work again?

If you installed a component speaker, they come with tweeters and crossovers. If you have not installed those, quit reading and go do that first.

Let me point something out too: the stock premium sound speakers kick the crap out of any component speaker out there IF you don't have a sub.

Sorry for the OT, but, if you DO have a sub, what is your favorite then?

        yeah, I got the infiniti Kappa 50.9cs 5 1/4in.

        I installed the components/crossovers.

as far as the tweeters, I noticed the factory wiring spliced the GREY/YELLOW (frm the tweeter) to the GREY/RED (on the speaker wire). So I just cut this and connected the tweeter wires directly to the crossover.

By low sound, I mean low decibel compared to the stock. When I turn the vol all the way up, its like 1/4 as loud as the passenger side.

Posting this I just realized, I made a mistake with the wiring to the crossovers!! will update later

Did you change the amplifier? Most components require a more power than stock speakers.

Favorite, or "top of what I am willing to spend"?

I use Exile XP65s, running on 600 watts RMS tri-amped in quasi-aperiodic tapered quarter wave tubes. Ask anyone who has heard it, it is stunning. (sorry about bragging, I really can be an ass) The Exiles are cheap ($400/set, retail) compared to what I want, but are already pretty damn incredible. If I used the tech of my install on real US made amps (TRU, Zapco, ARC Audio stuff) with say, Dynaudio Esotars or even put up with the "cheapie" Esotecs (those are triple the Exiles) but no way can I validate that cost, so I am gonna use HiVal drivers to replicate that performance and build my own crossovers.

I want full half-wave transmission lines behind a 2" midrange with a sealed box tuned to a Qts of .8 or so that will run down to 40Hz or so. In the damn dashboard. That is why I am going to build my own dashboard entirely custom.

Look for it spring of 2012.

                Luke

                    The Dynaudio destroy those.

They may not be all that pretty, but that is my job. Car audio should be heard, not seen.

Unfortunately, also about double the coin those Audisons should be.

ahh fuck. So I corrected the wiring and still the drivers side doesnt play as loud as the stock passenger!

I noticed there are prewired yellow/red and yellow brown speaker wires...why the fuck are there 2 sets of wires for the kickpanel speakers? Are the yellow/red and yellow/brown directly from the reciever?

Consider buying and amp and running to new wires to your front components.

Did you do an amp bypass? Do you have a stock deck? If you have Premium Sound, your speakers do not have yellow/red (blue/red, yellow/black and blue/black) and brown except between the deck and the amp.

Go look at your electrical troubleshooting manual, it explains the schematic pretty well.

Oh: are your Kappas 4 ohm or 2 ohm?

bumping an old thread, but can I get my stock premium sound speakers to run at 2 ohm (total load, assuming stockers are 4 ohm) if I put the frt/rr in parallel left and right and use 2 channels of my amp this way with the other 2 channels bridged to a sub?

Would it be better to just use the head unit to power the rears.

I am going with a JVC KD-r900 and Sony XM-4S class D amp. no sub yet, would take suggestions....

                            thanks

Yes, Jason, you can, but you will never hear the fronts. I would (especially since you have high pass filters on the JVC) use deck power on the rear and amp the fronts.
