    QUICK 3rd brake light question

do late model cars require changing the 3rd brake light bulb from inside the trunk?

silly 1988 came with the early model rear speaker shelf, and i'm changing to the later style shelf. wondering if i have to cut a hole to the trunk to access the bulb.

OK, so now that you have the thing all together, I forgot to tell you that you need little rubber shims under those mounts so the thing won't vibrate itself to death.

Wouldnt of been easier to not cut the hole and just unbolt the light to change the bulb for if and when the bulb would need to be changed? :-?

^Only if you don't mind removing the rear seat back everytime as well. The rear deck would have to come out to get the light out if I remember correctly.

well, the the self tappers i used have a built in rubber washer, so I'm hoping that can take care of it, but dually noted.

Yeah, to get at the light the rear seat and entire shelf would have to be removed again, like Schnitzer states--

Ah i see. Someone put a late model shelf and 3rd brake light in my 87, and no hole was ever cut. Never gave it a thought about having to remove everything lol.

lol, i dont own the car anymore. But if i did and it burned out, i'd probably leave it blown out. I'm not a big fan of 3rd brake lights...
