Sound noob, looking for advice. (StereoInstaller1)

This particularly thread is directed at StereoInstaller1.

I plan on grabbing one of your 10" boxes when the become available.
However, I'm looking at a budget setup and have searched through many threads.

I sparsely remember you recommending in one case to have the deck or stock amp power the fronts and to pull out the rear speakers, with a separate amp to power the sub.

In my case, with premium sound car, would the resulting sound coming from an oldschool alpine 9815 using the stock BMW amp to power the front and rears with a separate amp for the sub have "Decent" sound, in your opinion?

I'm sure a lot of people just hook it up this way and are fine with it. I'd prefer to keep installation and budget as low as possible but I'm willing to put a bit more work into it to configure things as necessary.

    Patiently awaiting your response.:hitler:

You have it backwards, he said have the deck power the rear speakers, and the new amp power the fronts and sub.
Your signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.

you can get a 4 channel amp for the fronts hook them up normally to the amp and for the sub connect it to the rear channels on the amp but make sure its bridged for more power. and low pass etc....

Damn, I don't even need to post!

Long term goal is to have all speakers powered by an amp so if you start off with a 4 channel (half on bass, half on fronts) you can get decent sound (that is how my wifes car, Parkers car, lots of others are) and then later, add either a bigger 2 channel (or mono) amp and use the 4 channel for front and rear...or you could buy the 5 channel Jensen from Sonicelectronix for $130, as long as 300ish RMS is enough power for bass for you (big boomers need not apply, unless they do a 12")
