My power antenna has recently ceased to stop functioning - no noise, no nothing. I'm trying to determine if its getting power when it needs it. What I don't understand is why it has three wires. The black is obviously ground. It also has a red wire and a white wire. One gets a constant 12v and the other gets 12v only when the radio is on. Is this how its supposed to be? And the black motor casing gets very hot. Is that normal?

The black is ground.
When the red gets power it goes up.

Thanks. I took the motor out to find that the board is fried (which explains why it was getting so hot). If the car IS supposed to supply +12v to go up and +12v to go down... my wiring got borked. More to come when I get another antenna.Comment
