Anyways, so what if I upgraded to an E36 head unit? With maybe a cd changer? It would still look similiar and stock, but with updated shit and possibility for CD changer.
Or use this with my existing shitty old Kenwood cd playter with CD changer input

    Is that all I'd need?
What Kenwood deck? Does it have an IP-Bus port on the back?

I went with a C43 for the exact same reason, don't want anyone stealing my shite...

Got my Phatbox mp3 player hooked up to it through the cd changer, but you could always use an iPod adapter as well....

One of these days I am gonna find time to build a proper AUX input for the slider deck...but it ain't gonna be free, or even cheap.

Hack the cassette deck, that is free. It blows ass IMO, but it is free.

Oh hay buddy. Im semi concerned about sound quality in the car. I dont want it to sound terrible but then again my E30 sound system isnt that spectacular either. I'd buy a perminent solution from you if you made one.

That looks awesome man. What speaker setup are you using? Hows the sound quality?

Ive seen that method before. Not too crazy about it. Id imagine sound quality kinda sucks too.

I might be wanting something that just cant happen and still function the way I want. I guess I'm going to be forced into just buying a cheap headunit. If someone breaks into my car, it'll be an 89 dollar loss.

Im really interested in the CD43 though. Ill look more into that.
                  Thanks for the responses guys.

Thanks. All I've got in there now is some Polk 5.25s in the rear. I haven't had the chance to install the rest of the system. I'll have a thread for the install once I start on it.

No, actually SQ is the same as any normal AUX in. The issue for me is the cheese factor, you have to have a cassette in to toggle it, and that is horsepoop.

+1 for a C43 or CD43. I have a C43 and a blitzsafe adapter, and just scored a CD43 on craigslist on the cheap. Can't wait to swap it out. It just sucks though that the blitzsafe unit doesn't display artist/title like some of the other units do on the CD43.

Yes, even though the CD43 is text capable, the blitzsafe is not...as per blitzsafe tech support that is.

                              lame bastards.

I just want my phone to be a 10" touchscreen and a stock deck with AUX in.

Guys, another way to deal on this is WAY more better if you do care about SQ.

                              Get an Audiocontrol LC8i

Get the right cheap 5 channel amp, a cheap sub (in one of my boxes) and stock premium sound speakers, you can have stunning sound for under $600. Big fat clean boom, nice crisp clear highs, seriously nice sound for $600ish, total.

We are talking like "S50 cool" and no one will believe you have a stock system with tuning. The AUX input is badass. The sub level knob switches between sub level and volume for the AUX, plus it switches between aux and sub. Mount the knob right below the cigarette lighter, backmount the LEDs with a dab of crazy glue, it is damn sexy.

That $130 Jensen is a beast too. It also has a sub level, but the LC8i controller handles it nicely.

What would be the right kind of five channel amp? I'm tempted to sell my
Alpine deck and do this. Just need the amp. How do you get the signal from the own deck to the amp?
