functions of OBC?

My 6 button has had a bad LCD since I've had the car.

I took it apart last night and, assuming I find one, putting a 'new' display seems easy enough. But I wondering if it would be worth it to put in a 13 button unit.

My question being, is it worth the effort?

What extra functions does it have?

is it all the same stuff that's available on most modern cars? (mileage, temp, range, i know there's some security code) anything I'm missing that aren't self explanatory by looking at the buttons?

what are the numbers for?

I had both OBCs in two different cars, but neither one worked, so I didn't bother messing with them. If you swap between the two, I believe you have to get a different set of wires between the OBC and instrument cluster. Differences between the old and newer styles are size differences.

Swap wasn't too hard.
Takes a few hours. Run 13-button harness through the dash from location, to back on instrument panel, and under the knee panel.
