    Wrapping Vinyl?

Im just curious how this works. I might be building a box for my friend soon, and I am thinking of wrapping it in matte black vinyl.

If the box is a rectangle, do you just wrap the 4 sides that are the same and then on the ends tuck one side over and made nice seams?

Oh and I know you need the adhesive. Im a cheap ass and dont plan to buy a pneumatic spray gun soon so i know there are rattle cans with the glue I need.

You just can't do vinyl without proper glue, you have to stretch it.

Okay nice work too Luke! But also, has anybody ever wrapped a box in sign vinyl? I think it is a great idea!

What is gonna be critical is getting an absolutely smooth flawless finish, as any kind of vinyl will show every little glitch...I have seen 80 grit sanding scratches show through.

Your sign vinyl idea won't work unless you use just insane prep. MDF is slightly porous, so it won't stay stuck.

The glue you will want to use is called "Landau Top Adhesive" from DAP. One of these days you can come over, I can show you the basics of how to wrap in vinyl.

Remember that the back of the vinyl is cloth, like so:

            So the stretch is crucial.

Ya Ive been reading quite a bit about it.

Damn, the sign vinyl would be pretty neat. It would be like a super high quality paint finish

the overlam is just clear UV film and would need heat gun and/or relief cuts to get around the 3pt corners, only thing the 290 is good for really is lam protect a digital print/wrap graphic.

Ouch! You're right. That does look bad. Nice design though.
