What amp are you going to be using with it?

I still need to order a headunit for my car, once Luke's box arrives I'll start on stereo. I went with a sealed 12" box as well.

Type Rs are not impressive in sealed from my experience... Very different vehicle (in a Saturn trunk and also in a 1500 ext cab) but generally speaking they don't like sealed. Done properly I bet that R would sound great in an E30 ported. How do you plan to mount it? Like a Luke box or???

        Just food for thought...

Ive had the exact opposite experience --- my 2 type Rs hit low, loud, accurate in sealed box..... granted its in a zed hatchback

Humm I guess it's really hard to compare vehicles... Did you also try a ported enclosure in the same hatch?

no I didnt. I do have a 10" w6 in a luke ported box but it doesnt hit anywhere nearly as hard as the zed. I suspect the amp (kenwood 9152d) not delivering a true 900rms at 2 ohm. The zed is running 2 fosgate p500-1 at 1 ohms for each type R. (2 10" dual 2ohm)

Im up late so Im thinking of swapping an amp in and see what happens

so I finally had some time to do some work on the e30 and I redid the grounds in an attempt to rid of "ground loop". I was running ground off distro block to both the 4ch and the mono amp. I switched to a direct run to each now 3 ft vs 6ft of ground (still 4 ga) and wow does this thing pound now.
