Yeah the staging and phasing is better when the drivers are in the same location so I suppose that's not such a bad idea.

As for the fit, I meant just a good pair of 6.5" as opposed to 5.25", not necessarily the GTOs.

You can yank the tweets out of them and mount them separately. It's kinda an either or kit.

I don't think anyone knows if there will even fit....so.....yeah....

Wait these are components, why is the tweeter mounted coaxially?

I have always been a big fan of JBL but I tend to hear mixed things about them when reading reviews. I may eventually pick a set of these up, or some Image Dynamics CTX65CS. How tough would it be to fit 6.5" comps in the stock locations? Seems like you could just hack it up a bit...

yeah my concern is also the tweeter. Looks like it would be a PITA to mount in the sail.

That would be the tweeter, and yes it can be removed. A phase plug goes in its place.

Concerns: That is a VERY "thick" mouinting flange on the frame. Guys trying to put them in stock locations will have some battles making sure the cone has proper movement.

There have been a few pics of a very nice job spacing the stock panel out, I just don't know where they are.

Man, I wish Quart didn't suck...no, they aren't harsh, and neither are the MB Quarts you speak of, the harsh was the shitty crossovers they used!

JBL metal domes have always been very well damped, always a nice mix of smooth and bright. I have heard the 4" version of these they no longer make, they were awesome.

true. and for most those ppi's in the 3 way in an e34 will be outstanding. Dont tempt me to go buy some. geeezzz. lol

Back on topic, regarding those JBLs. They look really sweet. And $170 is a huge deal! I am tempted to sell my Zapco i Force 5.2s and get these for the e30. They are really nice but aren't epic speakers. I wonder if the jbl's titanium tweet would be harsh like a mb quart etc etc

So luke, do u think these are the way to go in the e30 in stock location? And how much better do you think they are compared to the Zapco i-Force i5.2 components?
