    Help with install? Total noob..

I bought a beat e30 with no stereo. It has no harness except for all the wires. I heard that there were no harness connectors for e30s because they are old? My question is, if I buy a typical stereo deck like this...

how would I go about installing this? Will the stereo come with a harness I can plug my e30 wires into? Or do I plug it into the stereo deck itself?

I searched, but I cant seem to find my answer.

I have never used a harness, I always hard-wire them in. But that depends on your skill level.

hard wiring it isnt super hard, just figure out what wires on the deck go to what, and what wires in your car go to what. match them up and presto!

I am capable of hardwiring and that diagram definitely helps, but I never bought a deck before nor have I seen the back of one. If I purchase a brand new deck, does it come with any wires at all?

Yes, it will have a plug in the back with all the wires.

            Kick its ass.

Thanks. So I simply follow the diagram you provided, splice the wires on the back of the stereo, match the speakers, constant power, etc and hard wire and im done?

I HIGHLY recommend getting a set of these crimpers:

Luke turned me onto them and they are by far the best crimpers out there (for insulated terminals anyway). Makes a MUCH better crimp then your average stamped crimping pliers. You can get them at Lowe's/Home Depot for like $20.

Beware of a weird issue I ran into..... I rewired my '87 325is for an aftermarket- pretty straightforward as you know, speaker wires, powers etc...

Well, there was something funky going on with the stock radio wiring; when I had finished, my new radio only received power when my headlights were on. I can only assume it was linked to a headlight-triggered backlight dimming function of the stock radio, but never bothered to find out- car looks better with the headlights on anyway.

                          BAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAA...oops!

Let me guess, you didn't test the wires?

Grab a testlight, fix that shit.
