    serious wiring problem

ok heres my problem, i have a feeling its something simple but i dont even know where to start.

when the key is in accesory the windows, sunroof, fan, and other interior lights work etc

but when the cars running none of it works...

any ideas on where to start looking?

Start with the green/black wire on the starter.

That wire runs the "unloader" relays, they kill power to stuff when it is cranking.

The wire is supposed to see +12V on crank, but ground otherwise.

Pull it off the starter and ground it, see if all that stuff works.

BTW: it is supposed to have its own terminal, but some starter remans are screwed up, and most non-BMW techs cannot understand it, so they hack instead.

Pull that wire and ground it, post your results here.

alright, i read somewhere else about something to do with the starter but it was very vague. thank you for this and i will post my results later on tonight when i attempt this.

also would this be the reason my fuel pump doesnt want to kick on either? right now i have it jumpered from the battery to drive it rofl XD

so i took a look at the starter wiring and there was a wire missing.. so i started cutting open my wiring harness and found the wire i believe would be the ground for that green/black wire you were talking about.. wired it all back up and everything works perfectly. THANK YOU it was driving me crazy!

now just to figure out why my fuel pump isnt kicking on automatically, the factory plugs seem to have power when i test them but i have to really dig into them to find the power, im thinking its just a bad connection.
