Luke, help. damn these things are big. i scored 2 sets relatively cheap. I started on the rears and damn !! These are going in my m3. It appears I need to undermount them to my "premium sound enclosures" so the tops will fit. Then Ill have to cut some of the body away to get the magnets to clear. I could just flip the tweeters and have them point away on each side. Then i would not have do any of this. Only hard core e30 owners would know they were backwards. whats your remedy? thks chuck

Chuck, now that I think of it, we didn't use the PS housings...those suckers are HUGE though, I don't know if you could cut the top of the PS housing out to make them work.
Hmmm.
The fronts you can just use a nut between the head of the speaker mount screw to make the panel bulge just a little, still fits together, but barely.
Wait until you hear those things though, they sound great.

Luke, it looks like ill have to undermount them to the ps covers. If i dremel the speaker opening to increase diamater maybe a 1/16 or so and then use double sided tape for a seal this should keep the conefrom hitting the ps cover and wearing the foam. my 10" sub will do the real base and cone movement. This unfortunaltely makes cutting the metal away for the magnet to clear even larger. break out the dremel. i ll try to photo all of this if anyone is interested. the tweeters in the rear ps housings are a breeze.89 M3 "Ms. Bavaria" Garage Queen Cinnabar w/ black guts

luke, i cant do it. call me a puss. i cant dremel away the body panels on this car, no mater how small. i need to go another route. i have agonized over this all day. i have the car torn apart, rewired and ready to go. i guess im an oem man, or something that will fit thats similiar in size. im sure my plan would have worked.. undermounting them to the ps grills. i had it all working and put together on the bench and damn, that big ass magnet. chucker89 M3 "Ms. Bavaria" Garage Queen Cinnabar w/ black guts

Thing is huge, I know...but they sound so damn good!
I am glad you aren't willing to cut the car.
Chuck, I am gonna suggest you make a spacer to put under the PS housing. I think if you used 1/4" masonite cut basically 1/4" bigger than the "footprint" of that housing, with a hole cut to allow the magnet to fit through (basically as big a hole as you can) and then you could wrap it in black cloth, sand it and paint it in SEM trim paint...just a 1/4" thick panel won't be THAT obvious under the speaker, right?
Hell, if you really wanted to you could make it from ABS, do "plastic welding" to the inside of the housing, sand it smooth, re-texture and paint it to look just like stock, only 1/4" taller!
However I can help, bubba, let me know

Luke, I thought of extending the PS housings. if it aint looking bone stock i cant do it. i did work for Earl 30 plus years ago and this type of body and trim stuff is up my alley, but I still cant. They are for sale on Fleabay. thks chucker89 M3 "Ms. Bavaria" Garage Queen Cinnabar w/ black guts
