Well, it is a hard thing for someone like myself who has poor camera skills to capture.
This is a normal box with a hunk of carpet on the back, and an amp installed on that.
When I made the "pretty panel", I cut a hole for the amp to come through. I upholstered the panel, here is how it looks:

If you want an idea of how much space it takes, go measure 10" from the seat back, on the floor.
Here is a more difficult install of a 12" box:

Since you get a hunk of carpet and a template, you really can do whatever you want to do, it is up to you.
Here is better idea of the trunk space available:
and like I said, that is a 12" box, the 10" box is exactly 2" shallower.

Not yet sure. My intent is to make a box that is easily and quickly removable. Thinking rubber hood latches like a Wrangler has. Also thinking an "offset" design that allows an amp rack to be put on the drivers side, so the amp can be kept in while tracking or whatever, so that the amp won't be ruined by constant removal and re-installation: capacitors don't like that sort of thing.
EDIT: I expect a 4 channel amp will be used in this install, tunes will still play with the sub out.
Expect it to be just a little more expensive than the 10" box.

Hey Luke, is that my box pictured in your first post?
I think i have the most well known Luke box ever !
Everybody should buy one of these if they have a radio in their car because
1) Luke needs a fresh E30
2)They are very well made and fit like the proverbial glove
3)The box with sub (10") weigh less than the trunk tar you will remove so no performance / balance loss over original
4)Luke needs a fresh E30
5)You will get that warm fuzzy feeling for helping a brother outLast edited by LJ851; 06-01-2011, 12:35 PM.Comment

heh, it might be, they all look the same to me!
Can't believe I have sold over 200 of these boxes and still need more pics.
EDIT: Those are words from a guy who has been working on Ducatis for years...not exactly faint praise!
Thanks, bubba!

As far as hold downs go, check out McMaster.com. Look up part number 1406A81. Something like that might work well for you. Cheap too. Or even maybe #1794A41.Comment
