WTB: JL 500/1 or 300/2 or /4

just wondering if anyone has amp for sale such as JL 500/1, or 300/2/4, need an amp so i can finish my sound system for the Leavenworth drive!

Can we settle on "better than average"?

JL cannot hold a candle to Zapco, the better ARC Audio amps, certainly can't even touch Phaze or Milbert, and kneels at the shrine of TruTechnologies.

Audison, Genesis, BRAX, the list goes on.

Even Esoteric is far better, and is only double the money.

Hell, I think any old US made Orion from before 1994 is better than any JL amp. A couple of old GX240s and an HCCA 250 will blow your mind.

Now, get ready for this: I would prefer a new SoundStream "Reference" over any JL amp too. I trust Grizz Archer (the guy in charge, basically) completely, and I have known him for 20+ years. Yes, they are made in China, but they really do kick ass.

Oh, plus they are possibly the sexiest amp ever made.

well i was comparing JL to the average amps that are at Best buy and stuff...

you got anything good for sale? i need to run 3 10" JL subs, and JL speakers 3 way.

I am just not in any way equipped to sell gear. No capital, no patience, hardly any profit, gotta be a whore, all that shit, no thanks.

Do check the new Reference stuff. If Grizz is impressed, I am impressed.

Luke thanks for validating what I was thinking about the "Reference" SS amps. My roommates uncle owns a shop that carries them. He swears up and down. I think one of those will be my next amp.

the way I see it there are 4 classes of amps

1. absolute junk: auto parts store crap, etc. Generally Korean, Malaysian, etc.
2. Better taiwan amps: virtually all entry level amps (Lanzar, Jensesn, entry Fosgate, JL, everyone)
3. Chinese amps like Exile, Kicker, Alpine, etc
4. Good shit, generally US made, but a couple from Europe

i would say JL and Kicker cant even hear a difference.
i bought 300/4 for $140 its alright of a deal, not the best out there, but i just needed it.
