The big question here is why would anyone spend 10X the money for EXACTLY the same speaker?:

      Marketing and FUD?

The speakers out there that are actually worth (worth being somewhat subjective, of course) are few and far between.

So which of those should I get? I gotta fix my front speakers when I get the car back anyways, might as well throw some new drivers in there.

So, how would you reccomend a setup for four speakers. I like the first set (pyle), as they come with the crossovers, and the tweets. I assume that these would be best in the kick panels. What would you reccomend for the rear (vert) panels, another set of the same??

They are the exact same set of speakers, I would get the cheaper ones if they have any left.

My answer is ALWAYS the same: IF you have a subwoofer, run whatever, but if you do NOT have a subwoofer, get stock Premium Sound speakers.

You will not find any other speaker on the market now or ever that has as much or as good a bass output as the as the stock PS speaker. There are MUCH better speakers out there, but none of them have any bass at all.

You can run the PS mid in the rear location, just bypass the built-in crossover and loosen the panel, shove the speaker in place THEN mount the panel. Don't remove it completely, just get it out a couple inches.

Is it a problem that the PS speakers are all around 20 years old? I don't know anything about how speakers are made, but in my mind, it kinda seems like speakers would somehow deteriorate or go bad over time. Again, I don't know why this would happen or where I got this idea, but is that a non-issue?

Ditto. I was about to drop for some kickers that retail at 350, but I get at a great price (however still almost 4x the price of the pyles) to run with a kicker 700.5

I got a question for ya Luke, dealing with those terrible stock front speaker grills, the plastic ones. I'm just going out on a limb here, but I'm willing to bet with even the slightest bit of decent excursion the woofer is going to be smashing into them isn't it? If not, very VERY close.

Neither will those cheezeball Rainbows...all hecho in Taiwan, you know that. It isn't like there is more than 1 assembly line making 5.25" speakers.

Upper line Rainbows are FAR superior, but those are the shit ones.

They all have the exact same specs: 1" VC, 10oz magnet, plastic cone, rubber surround. Power handling is (as always) determined by throwing a dart at a board.

Want a grin? Go checkout www.made-in-china.com, you will see amplifiers that retail for about $400 for $11 if you buy 1000 of them, and use your own heat sinks.

Can you get anything else? Kicker kind of sucks. They do have some good stuff, but not in 5.25"

'tis true, I simply put little spacers under the screw heads so they stick out a little, keeping the grille away from the speaker.

The new Taiwan MBQuart actually addresses that, they are recessed a bit.
