Finally got $$$ for speakers. Advice needed

Thinking of buying separates like Vifa, seas, peerless ....<recommend something>, a good crossover and hopefully a 12" luke box (If it works on my setup) with the proper sub. Budget is ?? I want something very good. Plan is 6.5 mid range on doors + tweeters. 2 amps (I got them already JL-Audio)

i prefer infinity reference but right now i got some bostons in my truck and they sound good. for a sub depends on what ur looking to get and how many watts ur amp is peak and rms. and what ohm load stable like 1 2 4 8. also componant sets should come with the crossover for them,

Go with whatever you can find to fit your locations, and a nice tweeter, seas is good I hear.

And crossover... Audio Control 6xs. Active and $175... cheaper than building your own for each speaker.

At this point I HIGHLY recommend checking out the PPI "Power Class" seperates, they are amazing...and will fit in your doors. I plan on grabbing a set or three soon, I want to build custom door panel inserts for the 3 way version. The midrange is a brilliant little thing, a 2.25" aluminum cone with a 1" voice coil...designed by a guy I have known professionally for over 20 years.

Read up on them here: http://www.marsaudiosoundandbeyond.c...ates&Itemid=58

Want to think about maybe a BIG 10", like a JBL Power 1022 or a Orion HCCA or maybe a JL 10W7? I have a box coming very soon for that, too. "Vertical Mount" woofer design allows up to a 9" deep 10" woofer.

Read up on the JBL 1022, it is a beast, and selling cheap right now. I think my next box in my own car will be specific to that woofer, I am thoroughly impressed with them...especially for under $200.

PPI makes some sweet woofers too, am gonna be doing some specific boxes for their woofers.

I like the HATs, but they are nowhere near as good as the PPIs.

Name another 6" driver with a 2" voice coil...they just won some stupid national SQ deal in Florida, IASCA or something like that.

Currently, except for upper end Morel (and I mean Ultimo level) or upper end Dynaudio, the PPI is #1 on my radar. They really are that good. If I wanted more SPL, I would look to upper JBL.

The HATs are no slouches, don't get me wrong...but I will take the PPI Power Class over them any day. I have a TON of respect for Grizz, and these are his babies.

if you had a 4 channel for the front stage, you would run the 6" on 2 channels, the mid and tweet on the other 2 channels.

That is exactly how I will be setting the E34 up, same speakers and everything, only I want to use Soundstream speakers (they are the same speaker) and likely a Soundstream Reference amp.

Google Grizz Archer, see who the guy is. He rocks ass.

Are you becoming a dealer anytime soon? (or maybe you are already)

Likely in the next few months. I like only selling the stuff I build personally.

I really like the Vifa, Peerless and Seas components though I have only used their stuff in home audio diy speakers. A lot of their stuff can also be used in cars if you are comfortable with finding/making crossovers for them. Some of the Seas woofers tend to be a bit trickier to work with and sometimes lack some bass, but generally have a very nice midrange. If you have the money you might also look at ScanSpeak. I have used them quite a bit for home audio and they are excellent, but expensive. They have some kits made for car audio, but I have no experience with that end of their business, though I would suspect they are probably quite good. If you are looking for the best in audio, the Danish tend to provide it. Peerless and Vifa will get you most of the ScanSpeak performance at about half of the price.

Here is a link to some of their car audio components:
Free support for loudspeaker projects, sourcing OEM speaker building supplies, and passive crossover design. We sell raw speaker drivers (tweeters, woofers, subwoofer, midrange drivers, full range drivers), speaker kits, amplifiers, capacitors, resistors, and inductors.

I'd be curious as to StereoInstallers thoughts on ScanSpeak's car audio line since that is an area I know less about.
