Hate to repeat, but since the conversation went in another direction and I'd like to buy some to perform the same modification... what size ports do you recommend if you're going to modify a back seat that way (fyi - it's for a 12" box)?

        duh...sorry.

Stephens seat used 2) 4" port tubes. I did not want to go smaller as I had (still have) some concern of the ports affecting the tuning of the box.

Negative. I look forward to it though!

I honestly didn't mean to take this thread OT. I'm in search of a way to get a fuller sound in the cockpit sans the stereotypical boom boom shit we're all familiar with. I really dig the balance and simplicity of a good package shelf mounted 6x9, I wonder if your guys' porting idea could be applied usefully.

Not a problem, Luke. No apologies needed. One thing 8've learned that forums are like herding cats... Just gotta be patient and sometimes insistent since they (threads and cats) love to go off on tangents! :)

Thanks for the info, now I know what to look for at the stereo shops.

I have done 6X9s in E30s before, it can be made to sound good.

the issue is the fronts. They are just buried, thus the rule of "3X the power of the rears on fronts" to get a decent balance.

^The fronts are so horrible I've given up on doing ANYTHING with them. I'm going to try using premium sound tweeter pods with some units that'll put up with a low crossover point for front fill and focus other efforts on the rear.

Will this work on cloth seats without wrecking them?

I am going to be producing custom door inserts, but they will replace the entire "insert" area of the door panel, but will completely address the whole "lack of front" issue. I will also have a couple of other goodies coming that will help...but gains are all we have in the meantime.

My red car has cloth seats. We took about 2" of foam out of the skipass area (as in the pic at the start of this thread) and I cannot hear the difference with seat in or out.

BTW: I returned your money, let me know if you don't get my memo. I want to make sure my NAFTA stuff gets cleared.

Re-send it when you can, OK?

Lyle Lovett? Please. Penguins is an actual Double Bass, like a cello. Albert Collins' bassist can slap that funky bass guitar though. Really though if you want to feel the funk - Jaco Pastorius for the win. Electric Bass Guitar is played better on lithium, booze, and heroin.

Want to test a luke box? I'm a fan of Temples of Boom
