Stock radio (Pioneer KE-83 ZBM) wiring

    All,

I searched for help on this and found some useful discussions but it seems like the answer is somewhat case-dependent so I started another thread.

I got a 89 325i with non-premium sound system (no fader, no tweeters). PO messed up the wiring with an aftermarket HU but I kind of salvaged it and was running a CD33 hu for a while. Because none of the stock connectors were on the harness I figured out what each line is and hooked up the BMW adapter to run CD33.

I just bough a stock radio system (Pioneer ke-83 zbm) and found some connectors to go with it from the junk yard. My main question is:

Can i connect negatives of all speakers to HU chassis, i.e., ground? The connectors for the speakers (two prong ones) that I found at the junk yard don't have the negative wire coming out of the connector. So technically I wouldn't be grounding the negative output (it'll be left open) from the HU but only the speaker. Is this kosher?

I'll be running this HU without an amplifier. I think it's capable of driving the speakers (not looking for any great sound or anything). Let me know otherwise.

    Thanks for all the help

Edit: One more question and I may get bashed for asking this. Instead of disconnecting the battery, can I pull out the relevant fuses (12, 21, 28 ) to work on radio wiring? I got 19# injectors and I prefer not to have the stock Motronic learn to deal with them.again.
