Does anyone know where I could get some spacer or adapter to make them fit.

Got em from ebay... a search on there will produce results. It makes the speakers sit higher but hey, the premium speakers sat high too.

I used a layer to 1/2" mdf to increase the height of the entire "recessed" front area of the parcel shelf where the speakers mount and applied new carpet. It still wasn't enough clearance for my Infinity Kappa 6x9's, but some tedious trimming with dremel and a carbide burr enlarged the opening in the sheet metal below enough to allow clearance.

Bump this thread! Does anyone have a solution without cutting rear deck?

Why? It's going to look ugly if you raise the rear deck enough to fit most 6x9's. Just put what fits in and buy a Lukebox, sub and amp.

I'm about to build some spacers out of some spare MDF for my 6.5's in the rear since the PO didn't..

But if you guys wants to be lazy

                  Here is a 6x9 spacer

Here is a spacer for 5, 6 or 6.5 inch speakers

@dwvw doesn't have to look ugly, only if you let it look ugly. Those prefab spacers I linked will match most speakers and not stand out much. The kick panel speakers in E30's aren't visibly unless you look, and the rears will look fine either way.

Also if you do MDF or whatever you can order enclosure carpet for real cheap and match it to whatever surface the speakers are, then get any number of prefab or make a custom grill, literally make it look better then stock.

Everything I've seen and read so far seems to indicate that spacers won't give 6X9's enough room to clear the rear deck WITHOUT having to cut some metal. I guess I'll have to measure and figure things out, I'm guessing a carpeted MDF and spacers may work out, or an angled MDF may work, if I find any solutions I'll post here.

I doubled up on the spacers for my Fosgate T1693s. They provided a lot of bass for their size, and the sound wasn't overpowering the front, it sounded balanced. It looked a bit retarded, but eh.

I went to junkyard and found some 6x9's on some spacers, and the metal part of rear deck was intact. It can be done, I guess it just depends on magnet size. Danny thanks for your absolutely pathetic and useless input. Cheers!
