i mounted my 4 inch right in the door card. the only issue that i have right now is that my midbass is being overpowered by the 4. I just bought a new amp so i am going to bypass the crossover on the 6.5. I am interested to see what you do with you kickpanel. I've decided putting the 6.5 in the door is the only answer to my problem. Its really hard to get speakers to fit in the kickpanel without interfering with something (glovebox, hood latch).
yeah it really is.. the glovebox especially really cuts down on available space... i need to tear the kicks apart this weekend and see what kinda room i have to work with... i also really really dont want to loose the dead pedal... i blocked it off for the last week to see if i could sacrafice the legroom and its not worth loosing it to me...
so i may end up with a sacrificing optimal placement for comfort slightly and using time alignment as a band-aid (tho i would like to avoid that as much as possible)
also on the e30 im not so sure that the kicks are the optimal location as there isnt alot of leg in the way down there (at least for my fat ass)
my focals fit down there, but i had to either mount them on top of the kick covers or not use the kick covers. using 1/4 mdf is also an option. I am going to stack 3/4 mdf to creat door pods for my 6.5's and 4's. I got poor bass reponse and could only really hear the passenger side one. the sound stage just wasn't right. good luck though it'll work out, and if not your change it like mei am on setup number 3 for my 6.5.
