    Speaker question

Im new to these E30's, just picked one up, but I love it! This is a basic question im sure anyone can answer, but me, but I have a 92 325i, and as far as I can see there are only two rear speaker, two fronts (on the floor), and two tweeters up on the doors, any more im missing?

Are the front and backs 5.25 or 4.5 inch?

    Thanks for the help!

I make boxes for 8", 10" and 12" woofers, all depending on what you want to spend and how much boom you want.

I also make a "Mega10" and "Mega12" boxes for woofer such as the Type X, the IDMax and other such beast woofers. If you want to hurt yourself, these are the way to fly.

A Mega 12 with say, an HCCA12 or one of the huge RE 12's and a 1200 watt monoblock will hurt you.

You only need a couple hundred watts to make fairly serious boom even with the 10".

I have a small 4 channel amp, a single 8" and stock speakers all around in my car, and it is damn near enough to satisfy me. We are talking 140 watts on an 8" like you have never heard in your life:

I have a small 4-channel amp lying around I can use too. Quote me for a 8" custom box? Where does it sit in the trunk?

The 8" box is $250, the matching amp rack is $25 IF bought at the same time.

              Both plus shipping.

That picture you see there is the installed location, the woofer seals into the cabin through the ski pass hole. Here is a miserable shot of it:

What amp and woofer do you have?

So that amp makes 120 watts on a 4 ohm load, but 200 watts on a 2 ohm load. Typically, we want to see an amp make double its power when the impedance is halved, so you may have some heat concerns, especially if you get a low sensitivity woofer.

You can do any of the boxes I build, but if you want the best big bass and you only have 200 watts, do the single 12. You should be able to find a DVC 12" woofer between your buddies and craigslist for about $40, or buy an Infinity Reference (or one of about 2 bazillion others) DVC 12. 200 watts on a 12" box makes an incredible amount of bass of just incredible quality.

The other weirdness is how the bass stays in the car. I mean it, it is just bizarre. You can be sitting in the car with just HUGE boom going on, y'know full chest impact, hair on your neck vibrating, can't hear the person next to you yelling...then get out of the car and shut the doors, all the sudden you really can't hear it. I mean, there will certainly be some little bit escaping, but hardly nothing...then you open the door and BOOM!

The nice thing about that is that you car won't rattle, either.

Let me know if you are interested. I currently have the woodshop set up. I have 8" and 10" boxes available, but no 12", they are coming soon, but not right yet, unless you want one ASAP.

Hey luke, I am still interested in the 8" box, but will it still fit in the vert? Im pretty sure my seats dont fold down what so ever, so is this set up for only the coupe's? Also if I Can run it, you have any recommendations on a woofer and amp? thanks.
