Premium speakers w/aftermarket hu

Hey, I just picked up a set of premium speakers for my car (front and rear). After plugging them in and doing a test run I cant get them to work! Prior to this I was running factory shitty speakers and they played fine.

I've got a standard pioneer head unit with 50x4 output and independant wires run to all 4 corners. Worked fine before but these premiums refuse to do anything.

The tweaters are working, albiet quite poorly but they are working. The 5-1/4" dont do anything at all. Wiring on the speakers themselves is setup as it came from the factory with the tweets soldered to the second terminal set. What am I doing wrong?? Do these need the factory common ground/amp setup??

Ok update!

I've managed to get all but one of the 5-1/4" woofers working, all tweeters work but with a small issue.

Firstly, the non-functioning speaker. The rear units took some effort to get going, after plugging them both in I had to CRANK the volume and bass and one of the two fired up, and now works perfect at any volume. The other is totally intermittent, I have visually inspected the unit for damage, and found none. Tweets are working fine on both, but one of the two rears just will not play sound from the woofer consitently. Sometimes it works perfect, sometimes it does absolutely nothing. This seems to indicate loose wiring, but I see nothing. Swapping speakers around the problem follows the individual woofer itself. Any suggestions on how to start looking?


Second issue is that it seems I am one of the unlucky few who does not have the front tweets pre-wired, I'll be running some new wires soon to get these guys working. Pods are mounted, but no wires :( Not even hidden inside the door panel.
