Simple wiring switch set-up to turn amp on sans head unit?

I’d like to run a radio delete plate in my dash – and produce all audio signal to trunk amplifier from a mobile phone/mp3 player.

I would enjoy not having a stereo in my dash for a potential thief to eyeball.

Right now, turning my alpine deck on only serves to produce the ‘power turn on’ signal to my amplifier.

    What can I purchase ?

Basically, I’d want switch that I could connect to
    – radio/dash constant/hot power (yellow?) lead wire
    – a ground
    – the blue, turn-on signal wire which runs to trunk and tells it to turn on
    - and be very small – I’d want to mount it in one of the small HVAC blank panels
    – and maybe light up with an orange/reddish semi-dim light – letting you know amp was ON.

    Any help or information appreciated.

          Yep.
I've got an old Kenwood on 'tri-mode' sending high and mid to components up front - and low to the sub in back.

What exactly is that power turn on signal?

Much like the antenna turn on signal?

            Simply, a very low-voltage power?
            Is it pulsing or anything?

              Nothing special at all!
              12 volts, about 200mA.

If a power lead is seen as a draw of power – could one tie power (yellow) wire to amp turn-on (blue) to turn the amp on?

Just interrupt the circuit with a simple switch like this one?

Maybe put something like an inline, 2.5amp* fuse on the amp side of the switch for safety?

Thinking out loud here.. any input welcome.

and thanks for checkin this Luke..

                * 200 mA fuse?

man I HATE cutting square holes. Find something round base, trust me. The hople isn't perfect, you get chassis bind and it doesn't move well, or doesn't work right, just a PITA.

Yeah, any switched source is fine.

Ha! well shit - that's easy. Thanks Luke !

and the switches are cheap enough to buy a couple -then go with the favorite - or the one that fits best.

I'm gonna have to try this out. My deck is all wired with terminal/plugs - so it'd take like 20 minutes aside from getting whatever hole cut out in the button-blank.

and yeah - cutting squares sucks. Do-able - but tedious.

Holy shit - I'm really excited about the idea of no deck for a thief to see.

Personally I would use a fog light switch (fits the panel blanks) use the accessory power from the radio (will turn the amp off when you turn the car off).
what you did to this car is like getting a supermodel naked and willing to do anything you please. now here you are faced with ths once in a lifetime opportunity and then you squander it by making her fuck you in the butt with a 24" strap on. you are a sad, silly little boy.

Ug. looks like #8 is N/A (realOEM link)

Good call. I use my foglight switch as a manual AUX fan turn on.
