    cabin sub?

Okay so we all know the trunk isn't ideal for a good sub sound to come through. I was out cleaning my car and thinking what if I put a 8 inch sub right behind the ebrake center console?

I measured it and would have to cut the back of the console a bit where that little compartment is idk what to call it.

I just want a good sound and don't want everyone else in the world to hear my subs.

would this sound good? or be overwhelming with bass? or am I just crazy?

I second this. Listen to the 8" he does (I have one) and it will change your mind and keep tons of space in the trunk.

The sub is 100% sealed into the cabin, that is one of my primary goals...so acoustically, it isn't in the trunk.

In fact, the effect is so severe that the car is actually quieter.

        Just so you know.

Oh, thanks guys for the kind words. It really does make this a 1 sided forum, but I kinda like the side it is on. Might be a little bias in there though...

You could do it, but to have enough space around the sub in the box would probably mean an ugly big box.

as far as luke box, the sound is transferred into the cabin as said before, but more importantly, it doesnt rattle your license plate or attract attention of others outside the car

I wan't a lukebox but I'm sure there's no way to get one for a 15". I love to feel my music at low volumes but there's no way to do so without a rattling trunk or disturbing cars next to you.

              or am I wrong luke?

Well, I think you misunderstand. 90% of all E30s have a ski pass. You just haven't seen it.

The only way you don't is if you have a very early car, as in before '86 or so.

Either pull your seat out or pull the cardboard liner out of your trunk, either will show you that there is a perforated metal panel that pops out with a whack or three from a hammer. I have punched them out with my hands, but I do not recommend that.

As far as the broke college student crap, well, I understand. Tell you what, post a pic of an honest report card showing straight A's and I will knock $50 off. Sound like a deal? I honestly do care about your education, it is way more important that a stupid subwoofer.

In the meantime, grab whatever box and woofer combo you can, having bass with a little rattle is better than none at all, buy one of my boxes when you can. If you worked at $10 an hour, you could buy it quicker than you could build a duplicate...just too many little tricks go into these boxes.

You could build yourself one of course, and if you search long enough you will find I have told several people several times all the measurements, why certain things are done certain ways...or you could ask me again and I will tell you all I can. Hell, maybe you can figure out a way to build them better, who knows, right? I will tell you this: one of my boxes and a $50 woofer on a $100 amp will DESTROY any $700 woofer/box/amp out there in an E30. I mean in every way: louder, cleaner, clearer, absolutely kick its ass in SQ too. Oh, plus, your car won't rattle, as ALL of the bass is in the cabin.

Well, I cannot do a 15. I have tried before to make the biggest box I can, I am pretty well capped at about 3 cubic feet. I won't put a 15 in that small a box, I like to hear a 15 in roughly 5 cubic feet. Plus, the box is only 15" tall, and as it is you MUST remove the "trunk tar" to fit my boxes...seriously, they basically scrape the bottom of the rear deck. You need a minimum of 1.5" on top of woofer diameter...just accept that a 15" is not gonna happen....but this woofer is possibly the best woofer ever made: http://www.jbl.com/EN-US/Products/Pa...=W12GTI%20MKII

Look for a new series of boxes called "the Beast" soon. Prototype is nearly done...

Just a random input; my friend has two of those W12's in the center console/armrest of his truck (03 F150 Lariat) and it will separate tissue from bone.

Luke I'm making grades next quarter just for one of your boxes haha

damn luke, your one cool guy.

but my car just so happens to be a 86' I know there isn't one because my car didn't come with the back seat installed!

maybe I can afford it because I don't only see it as a wooferbox i see it as something to block out some more noise from my obnoxious exhaust.

how much would it be shipped to 60548?

Well, if you have that type (my new shell is one of those) we will have to work something out. I put so much time into these boxes I just cannot do "one-off" boxes on the cheap at all.

So, give me a shout when you have a couple hundred bux floating around, OK?
