    Fog Light Out

One of my fog lights went out on the way to the last Bimmerfest apparently.
I purchased another set from a R3v member that were cleaner but still cracked and supposed to work.

After installing both, I noticed that neither worked. I figured I'd blown a fuse or the relay had died.

Well, I popped one fuse in and it seemed to make the side that was working before work, but the one that had initially gone out still didn't work for some reason.

Any pointers as to what may be causing the inoperational fog light other than the actual connector?

I am having an electrical issue with my fogs as well. Each side of the circuit is fused independently, 29 and 30. 29 keeps blowing on mine. Also my fogs dash indicator light is not working. I have the schematic I'll post it when I get back home.

My dash light still works, and the fuse isn't blown after dropping it in the slot for the left fog. Could my whole fusebox be fucked?

I would recommend testing continuity. Start at the fog light connector and work your way back to the fuse, and the switch.

I've torn a few dashes apart and some models have two positive wires together on the back of the switch (plus the ground), others share a single positive. It is possible that one came loose. But get a lest light (or continuity tester) and start working you way back.

Finally removed the dash cluster to look at the fog light indicator bulb. The old bulb had corrosion on the contacts, and would still light, just too dim to be noticeable. Replaced it with a spare.

BUT, turns out that was not the issue -- this time when I unplugged the left fog connector I found a couple Tbsp of water in the connector and wire cover. Not sure how water got up and into the bumper, but I think I'll wrap from the connector to the wire cover so there's no point of entry for water in the future. Letting it dry out for a couple days before I test again...

Use dielectric grease. keeps water and moisture away from the contacts and also works as a conductor. you can use it on any connections.

Water found its way into the connector and shorted the connection... I need an insulator for the connection, not a conductor!

Good info here! My drivers side foglight, has been out for ages! And I finally got it working again by replacing a fuse.

Yes both my fogs are dead so this provides some good infos. I was gonna say 84, if it keeps blowing then you probably have a short somewhere in the line. Hope mine aren't full of water as well, guess we will find out soon enough.
