I need some cheese to go with this whine...

I have an '89 325is that's had some stereo work before I got ahold of it. A few months ago I started having this whining noise that raises and lowers with the RPMs. It persists even when I turn the power off to the headunit. It's coming from the front passenger side floor speaker and door tweeter. Since the whine hasn't always been present, I'm wondering what the problem is. Bad ground somewhere? I'm not even sure where to beging looking. If someone could shed some light onto the problem, I would be forever grateful. Thanks in advance.

Aftermarket radio tapped into factory amps? factory radio with aftermarket amps?

Sorry, aftermarket headunit with aftermarket amp and sub. The amp is only powering the sub. And again, it hasn't always whined. Started noticing it several months ago but now its way worse.

check grounds and make sure none of the (-) wires are touching or exposed to ground.

Bleh, this is not going to be a fun trouble shoot. I hate wiring in general.

I love it. Simplest it's all the work to be done on an e30
