    Coding plug questions...

I have been having cluster issues, and I think it may be coding plug related.

I am pretty sure all of my coding plugs are screwed up since I changed the cludter and added a 13 button OBC.

I have an m50 swap. Which coding plug should I have in the cluster. Once I find that one, I could find the proper one for the OBC.

Pretty sure any coding plug from a 6 cylinder car will work.

What would be the issue if the coding plugs are off, between the OBC and cluster?

OBC Coding plug is basically only for the MPG rate. In terms of Instrument cluster any 6 Cylinder 7K Tach plug will work.

Unless you want an 8K tach, in that case go buy an E28 M5 coding plug and start soldering

Coding plugs make a lot of difference, as I found out. My cruise didn't work with one coding plug (from a 88 325i) but worked with mine (from a 91 325i). I couldn't get the 13 button OBC to work correctly (only time/date would work) until I found the right combination. So, I would suggest you get a coding plug for the OBC that fits the coding plug for the cluster....same year is where I'd start.
