Hey guys,
First of all I want to thank you for reading this. I just picked up an 88' 325i convertible as a project car. I have been looking at the wiring diagrams and many write ups but my situation is a little bit different.
Right now I have the back panels off and the seats out. Im trying to get everything planned out before I put it back together. I have a left and right balance control on my dash. I popped that out and underneath it I have 8 wires connected. The radio is stock and Im looking to replace it. The car came with an aftermarket 6 cd changer which doesnt work. Its in the trunk and the cable for it runs down the passenger side. The brain for that cd changer is under the steering wheel. I dont know if there are loads of wires spliced it or where its getting its power from, either way I want it all out and to start fresh. Would running new wires to a new harness be the way to do that? Are the wires connected to the balance all 8 speaker wires? Can I just disconnect them from the Balance and put them into the new wiring harness? I thought I had the trunk amp but I looked and I dont see anything back there. I have the convertible so is it placed somewhere else? I have tweeters which I thought meant I had the premium package? Here are some pictures, thanks so much for your help!!!

EDIT 11/30: Found the amp, it was not in the trunk but rather under the driver side rear panel. I documented the wires and once I figure out how to wire them, I will do my radio. I looked at SteroInstaller's stereo wiring and amp bypass thread but I couldnt find some of the colors he mentioned in his diagram. Here is my set up:
Balance:
Red Yellow
Black Brown
Yellow
Red Blue
Black yellow
Blue
grey red
blue black
Into Head Unit:
Yellow (coming out of white connector- other end green red)
White (coming out of white connector- other end grey red)
Grey Purple
brown black

Blue
White
