Lost My My Brake Lights Today

Got in my car to come home from work and the brake light in the overhead check panel stayed on. I have had the car (90 325is) for a year and never had this problem. Got home and checked the brakes lights and none of them work. All other lights work. Used a test light and there is no power to either tail light bulb. I had worked on the car 2 days ago and installed a new power antenna and everything worked for a couple of days. Overhead map lights works, fuse 6 is OK and wires are connected to the brake pedal switch. Rechecked all the wiring around the antenna and even swapped out the brake relay next to the antenna with an extra one I have. Still don't work. I still haven't gotten the power locks or power mirrors working, these were next on my list of projects.

The only other thing I did to get the power antenna working was to change the white wire connected to the HU. When I originally wired in the HU (per directions here) there were 2 white wires, one that was part of the harness with all of the other speaker wires and another one that appeared to be separate. First attempt to connect the power antenna didn't work so I traced the the white and red wires attached to the antenna cable under the dash and found the HU was connected to the wrong white wire. Changed this and power antenna worked. Not sure what the other white wire does, so I just taped it off.

Not sure what to do at this point. Weird coincidence that it would happen now. Does the brake pedal switch ever go bad? Scary to drive without brake lights. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

    Brake switch.

They occasionally go bad. Very easy to replace.

Thanks, I'll check with the dealer to see if they have the part. It would be nice if it was an easy fix.

If you were near the power antenna you may have dislodge a connector back there. It is above the reAr drivers fender. Three plugs going into a box. I believe one of them has to do with brake lights

Checked the brake switch yesterday morning by jumping the connector plug. Brakes went on so I picked up a new switch from the dealer. Changed the switch this morning and all is good. Old switch only says Italy so not sure if it was OEM. New switch has BMW logo on it an dis slightly larger. Could have ordered it cheaper on line, or maybe gotten a generic switch from auto parts store but didn't realize until afterwards that it might have been available that way.

Case closed. Thanks for the assistance.
