I guess i shoulve been more clear, to use in conjuction w the ebay keyless entry, I guess I would swap the internals?

also is the blade width correct for an e30? do i just have my key copied to it?

Well you can't use it regardless. There are some e30 ones on there that are similar.

Just swapped the blades yesterday. It is not the most easiest to do but it's definitely possible as long as you have the patience and some skill with a Dremel.

Mine looks pretty rough but it works. I do plan on getting another fob and do it all over again cleanly. Nonetheless it's a cool little project.

Is that really your key? One could probably use a narrow screwdriver to friggin start your car... that thing has no teeth left!

I used one of the spare keys that I have, and it's a bit worn out. Don't worry, I tried a screwdriver on my ignition before just because, and it will not budge it. Of course probably unless a real car thief would try and force it much.

It does NOT work as a remote. I bought the fob shell from ebay, like the one you posted up top. Except mine came from a seller who is local so I got the item within 2 days instead of waiting for one to come from HK.
