Damn Smooth! Very well put.
As Smooth said, there are analog line level outputs from the iPhone's dock cable and that is what I was using.
What started this is the poor quality if the iSimple iPod / iPhone to RCA adapter. The wire they use just isn't up to being fondled that much. (no doc in my car just the plug in cable) So the other day I noticed the cable developed a short in the left side. Quick search for a new one shows they are around 50 bucks. Plus I have to dig into the dash to hard wire it in again. This got me thinking of just using a female USB pigtail. I could then hard wire that and just get a new iPhone to USB cable every time the cable takes a shit. Then I discovered this iStreamer DAC. Admititly it's more expensive than replacing what I got, but there may be an improvement too. This also gets me to the iPhone to USB cable I was thinking about. Long way around I know.........
My phone is a 3GS and I'm told it has the worst internal DACs of them all (worse being relative)
The iStreamer is native to the iPod iPhone and controls the devices data stream to prevent or eliminate jitter.
