    Stock Tweeters

Just picked up a pair of the tweeter corner cards with the stock tweeters in them (these were only from premium sound cars correct?). I ordered the rest of the things I need for my audio build this morning which included a set of component 5.25 speakers of course with xover and tweets.

However now that I've got my hand on these stock tweeters they feel really solid, super heavy magnet for a tweeter. How well do these perform?

I'm thinking maybe I'll just use these stock tweeters and then wire up the component ones I'm getting somewhere else?

Well, they are Nokia mylar hard dome tweeters of adequate quality. There is a layer of 20 year old foam between the tweeter and your ears to "smooth" their sound.

I listen to mine every day in my daily driver E30, they do just fine, bt I did remove the foam and re-glue them in.

Some decent modern tweeters are way better, but the stock are better than most brands of inexpensive component sets.

The tweeters in my stereo car are Exile X-TEC. They are absolutely amazing for a set of components in the $450/set retail price point (read that as FULL price), way better than anything else in that price range IMO...but nothing compared to the stuff I really want.

That is why I always say "if you are not going to do top quality separates, use the stock shit"

Yeah I can see the old foam in there and kind of want to remove it, but it's probably more trouble then it's worth. I'll see how my new tweeters look when they come in and make a decision.

Don't even get me started on car audio "stuff I really want" my mind starts tracing every inch of my car and the beautiful builds I "could" do if money were no issue. Hopefully the build I'm about to do will be more then enough to satisfy the ever growing audio itch I have... for a while. I just cannot wait to have real bass in my car again, I die a little every time I drive without a woofer working it's low frequency magic.
