Anyone put 6x9s in the rear?

    Followed this: http://www.pelicanparts.com/bmw/tech...stallation.htm

But the spacers DO NOT allow even close to enough room to fit the depth of the 6x9 speakers unless mounted from underneath, but then the sound will only come out the small hole. My car had absolutly no radio or speakers in it when I bought it. Already put head unit and 5.25"s in the front (which dont fit) Should I go through the trouble of putting the 6x9s in or just get a nice set of 5.25s? A sub will be added either way. Really dont wanna have to cut anything

If you have a coupe or 4 door...i would just put 5.25s in rear and then the sub. You'll have plenty bass with the sub.

Its a 4 door, and that sounds like an easier idea. the 6x9s were free (had them from previous project) so I figured I'd give that a shot

I was just taking a peek at my rear deck because I had a set lying around too.

It doesn't look worth it to me. I have some nice boston acoustics 5.25"'s in there now and they sound great. Can't wait to add my sub to fatten the sound. Sounds really good now though.

5x7's fit with no problem. You have to cut the package shelf but that's easily done with a box cutter. I had some nice JL Audio's, so I used them. I tried 6x9's but didn't see any way to use them without cutting the metal and didn't want to do that.

I had 6x9's in mine. Fit with spacers just fine. Sounds ALOT better.

Rear fill should be such a small contributor to your set up. I've gone without rear speakers totally with no dissernable loss. Just drop in 5.25 if you feel you need rear speakers. Don't make those complicated

May I offer a suggestion? Take a few minutes and read the "killer $500 stereo" thread, there is a link in my sig. The sound that setup makes is absolutely amazing. Let me make that clear: I am not saying "it sounds good for $500", I am saying it sounds GOOD. Plays low, loud, clean and dynamic. It is very hard to believe how much ass it kicks.

Let me know if I can help.
