powered subs?

I might as well hop in on this thread.
I currently have a best buy special (OMG) dual branded dual 10" bandpass setup powered by a pyramid PB446X (so it's really only putting out 300w peak thanks to the 4 ohm speakers), and I'm perfectly happy with the sound (the batman begins soundtrack -molossus- is a great song, as is some of prokofiev's romeo and juliet).

Only problem is I have no usable trunk space left.
GAS, care to point me to a box/speakers (or I can move mine, they still haven't blown out) (A-OK if it's one of yours), that doesn't take up the whole trunk?

i was thinking about following the "$500 killer system" thread luke posted. is it really necessary to power the speakers as well? won't i have to worry about blowing out the stock speakers if i use an aftermarket amp? also, it says the premium audio stock amp is in the trunk..i always thought it was underneath the passenger seat?

There is nothing under the passenger seat. Except maybe heater vents. The factory amp is behind the antennae. Luke likes the Obcon woofer and the infinity woofer. The price on the Obcon jumps around a lot so it will be $40 one month and $70 the next. The amp is so so. I'm sure the JBL is much better. Just tossing out options that will keep you on budget.

just so you don't think i'm crazy..i think this is an antenna for the carphone or the stock radio?



could you please point me to the JBL amp luke recommends? prolly gonna jump on that sub if you guys think it's pretty decent.

I had a powered 8" Bazooka tube in my E30 for a while... it added something, but not a lot. It didn't sound like I had a sub at all... just full bodied regular speakers.
