I think the older JBL Arsenal headunit that came with the E28 I just picked up is fully dead. It causes a constant screeching noise to the right rear no matter how it's wired up and it won't power any of the other speakers. I'm sure the wiring is right because I just did this same thing with my 88 E30 and the wiring harness is the exact same. Is there something I'm missing, or is the head unit kaput?
I did the 9v test on one of the speakers, it worked fine, connected the unit to the same wires, nothing.
It seems to work as far as searching for stations, inputing and ejecting cds, that kinda thing. But no dice on getting sound to the speakers except the awful right channel squeal. How can I test it without buying a new CD player (or pulling the CD player out of my E30?)
