    Check light w/ wipers on

My check light comes on under this weird circumstance: wipers on speed 1 and when the brake switch is activated...so when i tap or press the brake pedal while its raining w/ wipers on spd 1...and only if its raining. If i go to speed 2 or 3 with the wipers i dont get the check light at all. But with speed 1 it seems like a constant current. Sometimes (rarely) the check light will come on with the wipers on spd 1 without braking. I'll hear a little static noise in the speakers and then see the check light. Even with the head unit off it happens in that cycle.

I was thinking maybe i should replace the tail light gaskets and the front top seal to protect both the check panel and tail lights. My antenna gasket is a yr old so that shouldnt be a problem. Any ideas other than that? It seems like some contact is getting penetrated by rain that is connected to whatever wire current the radio/wipers/brake light are on. I dont know a whole lot about the wiring in these so any help is greatly appreciated.

These cars have some quirky electronics sometimes. One day my windshield washers (and wipers) came on by themselves. Went off when I went over a bump. Then came back on and would not go off until I pulled the fuse.

Investigation resulted in me determining that if I grabbed the wiring harness just aft of the fuse box (in the engine bay) I could effect the fault. Unwrapped the harness thinking I was going to find worn insulation / shorting. Wrong. No visible indication of fault. I fixed nothing. Wrapped the harness back up and it has never happened again. Been two years now.

I had some weird wiper issues a while back...

When I first got the car wipers worked fine, few weeks later if I turned them on, they would not turn off unless I turned the car off for a good minute or so. This lasted probably a month to month and a half, then one day went away. My wipers work perfectly now and I have no clue as to why they did that, probably never will..

Anyways check all your fuses, replacing mine fixed a number of wacky issues for me, and even if they aren't blown, old worn ones can cause intermittent issues (usually those pesky 7.5 fuses that control half the functions in your e30...)

Also have you checked for the check light code? Your check light doesn't have to be on at the moment to give you a code, do the brake test and see if it gives you something.
