    power window switch diagram

alright, so i spend some time searching, either i'm searching the wrong key words, too many words, or just not going back far enough *shrugs*

so in my quest to get my 85 back to stage 0, i need some help with the power windows...my driver side front door window goes down no problem, but going up...thats another story, i either have to keep pressing it until it does go up or as i have the console out now, i can lift up on it and it will go up without any issues.

i would like to know what each wire does for better understanding, and incase it happens on another window, helps narrow down my search.

    thanks

humm, guess i'll pop the harness open and see what wire runs where, or see if there is a break in the wire inside the harness.

        thanks for the reply

No problem but you shouldn't have to, the fact that it goes down is enough to tell you that the wiring to the motor is fine, since if I recall well there are only two wires going to the motor, so if there's anything wrong it would be the switch.

Yup, try getting some electric cleaner and spray it in there. Or pull it apart and try cleaning the contacts, or get a new switch.

oh i've cleaned all the switches, that was causing my rear ones to not go down or up be the case when i bought the car. i've even bought the illuminated ones and took them apart and cleaned all the contacts.

i've used a couple different switches to eliminate that, but it goes down no problem everytime. the issue is going back up, i have to hold the switch (rather the wiring) at a high angle, if i hold it about shifter knob high, it works...but if i leave it where the console is it just clicks trying to go up...

get what i'm saying? its wierd

thats why i think just one wire is a short...hummm
