    Alternate antenna options.

Well my power antenna hasn't worked since day one, so I always have it fully extended to get some reception. I'd like to replace it with either a fixed flexible rubber one, or get rid of it completely and have a hidden one inside the car somewhere.

I think I've seen some e30s around with the rubber ones... Were these ever from the factory?

I also like the idea of sealing off the antenna hole and having a hidden one. Are these relatively inexpensive?

    Give me input!

    M3 antennas always look good.

I have always wanted to try to retrofit a Z3 style one onto an e30, but I don't know how well it would work. I just ripped the motor out of my antenna, glued it all the way down, and listen to cds.

What's involved with the M3 antenna? Would that look out of place on a 4 door?

That z3 is pretty much what I was looking for. Maybe even a bit fatter.

Go to a few junk yards that have some newer Bimmers. Look at the different options and go with whatever seems to be easiest and look the best.

i would do that but i have a ipod with itrip because i don't like to carry 30 cds with me and keep on switching them.
my reception seems to be bad and my antenna is on a wierd angle. would the z3 antenna screw in fine if i already have a non-powered antenna?

I don't know. Probably. I think I have a Z3 one sitting in my garage. PM me if you are interested in buying it.

I removed my ant. and replaced it with a 18" rubber flexible style. Hated how it looked so now it sits inside of my trunk behind the carpet.

Radio reception is Poor, however the fiances IPod works great in the car.

Just an idea. I also believe there are amplified antennas that you can mount in your car.

I did the same thing. I don't mind it but it's not the greatest. I'm thinking of getting a S2000 antenna and seeing if that will fit on there.

Check out this antenna I scored from my parts car.

It's super-short, and had more than enough wiring to run it up to the front of the car, just needs a quick shot of paint. I've been looking for one like this for a while, since I DESPISE the stock E30 antenna. I was considering for a long time removing it, and having the hole filled, but that's a lot of body work just to get rid of an antenna, so this one will work perfectly! I'm probably not even going to hook it up when I install it, because it's going in with my stereop sysem all at once, and I hate the radio, so I don't think I'm even going to have it be functional. It'll just be for looks, since my car has the early, big chome antenna. This will look much better, I think.
