    Stereo wiring questions

I've read through the stickied posts on this forum, read a number of other posts and read through the various manuals and I still have some questions. Please bear with me as I have almost no experience with car audio.

    I purchased the following:
    Headunit: Pioneer DEH-6400BT

    Crossover: AudioControl 6XS

    Amplifier: Rubicon 5.800

    Speakers,f: Infinity Kappa 50.9cs

    Luke box + amp/crossover box
    Sub: Obcon Sharktooth
Wiring: 2 pair of 15ft RCA's, 12 and 16 gauge speaker wire, 4 gauge amp wire w/ fuse

Question 1: I have 4 RCA outputs on the headunit. I should run the front outputs to the front input on the crossover but where should I run the second set of headunit outputs to on the crossover? To the rear input or the subwoofer input?

Question 2: The crossover has 4 sets of RCA outputs. The amp has 3 sets of RCA inputs - Ch1, Ch2, Ch3, Ch4, Ch5.L, Ch5.R. Which outputs should I use and where should I wire them into the amp?

Question 3: I have a pair of small crossovers that came with the Kappa component speakers. Why would I use them when the crossover can handle that job for me?

Question 4: Should I follow the 5-channel stereo amp schematic (Ch1 to LF mid, Ch2 to LF tweeter, Ch3 to RF mid, Ch4 to RF tweeter, Ch5 for sub) or the 5-channel bridged (Ch1&2 to LF Kappa crossover, Ch2&3 to RF Kappa crossover and Ch5 to sub)?

    Thanks.

Hey, Joe...yeah, you wanna run 2 pair of RCAs to the Audiocontrol, but you need to change a setting that the manual explains poorly how to get to the setting itself.

What you are changing is the subwoofer output to "full range" mode.

Oddly enough, you have to have your deck all wired, turn the key on and while the key is on, you have to manually turn the deck off by holding the "SRC" button, which will then allow you to get into the "other" menus, like clock, AUX and "pre-out" settings.

Your Audiocontrol will take the front and rear signals and combine them to produce a subwoofer output that will remain constant as you "fade" from front to rear.

The Audiocontrol also came with a sub level knob, correct?

        Luke,

Thank you for the reply. I know you are a busy man.

So I will run the second set of RCA's from the headunit to the 'Rear Input' of the crossover. Got it. I'll make the adjustment in the headunit as well. And yes, the crossover does have a remote level control. I'll run that up to the front of the car and stash it somewhere, maybe inside the glove box.

For question #2 then it sounds like I should run RCA's from:

-the crossover's Subwoofer level out to the amp's CH5.L and CH5.R inputs
-the Front Lowpass Out to the CH3 and CH4 inputs on the amp
-the Front Highpass Out to the CH1 and CH2 inputs on the amp

Correct? If so I just ditch the Infinity crossovers?

The crossovers for the Infinity separates control the crossover point between the mid-woofer and the tweeter. If you don't use it you will almost certainly blow your tweeters. Maybe I'm confused, but part of what you were saying seemed to suggest you meant to run two of your amps channels directly to the tweeters, and use your Audiocontrol 6XS to block the bass frequencies, but this seems somewhat pointless. So, yeah, I would use the supplied Infinity crossovers.

I though we were doing front and rear speakers, Joe?

If so, you would change the chip in the 6XS to roughly 120Hz for the front high pass and use the high pass and the rear high pass.

the front "bandpass" out is useful if you are running a tri-amped front stage, but otherwise, it will be empty.

It doesn't matter to me actually. Based upon your comments in some of the threads and what I've since read elsewhere, it appears the rears are not critical to having a nice sounding system. At this point I was planning on using the Infinity components up front and just the sub in the Luke Box.

In conclusion I should use the Subwoofer output of the crossover and the front highpass output run to Ch1 and Ch2 of the amp, correct?
