Luke? Foam in Car/ Stereo Matting

To Luke and my other friends in the car audio electronics sub-forum,

I've read several times your opinion on stereo matting, how placing one piece in the middle is what you need since the sound resonates in the middle, and the best place for matting is over the wheel wells. Since I am planning to replace my carpet with another one (dying it black) I want to also add some butyl mat from home depot or edead. However, I was wondering if adding some foam, even in a small square in the middle of panels, above my freshly installed mat will be benificial, or, does foam not work as well unless you cover the area completely? Anybody have any real world experience with the foam from "Foamforyou.com", was it worth it, what did you do?

    Thanks,
    Ryan A

Just thought I'd try to improve the sound a bit while I have the carpet out, on a bit of a budget. Trying to get some good bang for the buck but not interested in leaving my car in pieces for too long either. Any ideas?

            Luke,

I would like to decrease road noise a little bit, and therefore, improve the sound of my stereo in my car, utilizing a small budget and a minimal amount of time in effort since I am swapping out my carpet soon.

I was thinking: Place edead, or butyl crap from home depot, than a nice layer of foam from foamtoyou.com
http://foamforyou.com/Convoluted_charcoal_foam.htm 1.5" thick, should make a nice difference, and 20 square feet should be enough for an e30, right? cost about $50 after shipping? Or would I need $80 square feet?

Also, Luke, I was wondering if you knew anything about the Nakamichi MTD-2. It has aux in, and appears to be the right color to match the e30. http://www.ebay.com/itm/REFURBISHED-...e#ht_500wt_832
