Cruise Controal (help needed)

I just received a used cruise control stalk for 87 325is. I traced the wires which lead under steering stalk. My broken stalk has4 pin female connector. while the new stalk has a 5 pin female connector.

Just out of curiosity I noticed the original keyed 4 pin does fit inside the new female connector which has 5 pins.
I am hoping someone can help me figure things out before it's time to drive home in a few hours. : )

You have the wrong cruise control switch. The one you have is for cars produced from 9/87 on and you need the earlier part (61311377241) as used up to 8/87.
