    Factory Radio PN/Model Number Request

I've found a few with some searching, but I'm trying to find the model number of my old factory radio since I'm currently looking to buy one. Here's a pic of it:

Why would you want to buy one? Just curious, not trying to bust balls. I probably still have mine lying around, if you want it, but I'd have to check,

That radio also came in e28s and 6 series. I believe it was the premium radio on '87 e30s, it took me a while to find one. Try www.mye28.com

I can post up the part number tomorrow, J

Awesome. Im wanting to return it to stock and put a coverter i saw which uses a switch to run an ipod/iphone. My alpine cd player has always skipped even with new cd's and even with radjusting the cage. Besides, no one will break into a car for a 25 yr old factory radio...

So e24/e28s? Wonder why my e30 had it stock? I never saw this model when searching factory e30 radio so that definitely helps!

Heres the converter or whatever youd like to call it:

Then there are also the FM transmitters, which i actually have a belkin one for my old turn wheel ipod nano and it worked great.

Wasn't sure if you were interested, but I swung by my parents house to take a look for the old factory headunit. Wasn't able to find it, but I'm pretty sure it has got to be around there somewhere.

One thing you should know, however, is that if you have an aftermarket headunit currently, you might want to check what was done with the wiring to connect it. The factory ones have a couple weird connectors that you will need to hook up a factory unit. One connector in particular is very strange. On my car I cut these connections to get access to the wire, and I suspect many other have done the same, so you might not have them yourself. As an example, look at image #3:
                http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=255236

It might be straightforward to find a replacement, but without one I'm not sure how you could feed straight wire down into the place this connector type is designed to go.

I may be interested but not sure yet when exactly ill switch back over. Ill get a FM transmitter first. And my dad and i have owned the car since 1990 so i was the one who put the alpine hu in. And yes.. I cut the plug haha. Thought i kept it but couldnt find it. Though last night i saw somethimg similar in the parts bin that may have been it. Worst case ill hit up a junkyard and nab a new one

No problem. If you need a picture of the connectors/wiring let me know, this one came with all the pigtails.

Also, going rate for them seems to be $40-50. Make sure the display works. Good luck.

I paid $10 on ebay shipped. Just keep your eyes open. Took me three weeks to find one.
