Anyone retro fit a steering wheel with radio control

I was in my friends e39 today and realized the convenience of not having to take my focus off the road to blast the tunes, so I thought r3v must know, I have a Kenwood kvt-512 which can handle the wheel steering input with this shit http://www.crutchfield.com/p_541SWIRC/PAC-SWI-RC.html

Has anyone had experience with this would like to hear some insight

gah, i hate buttons on the wheel. especially on a sports car? why? just reach the extra 4" and save yourself the trouble of changing stations when turning hard

That style of wheel doesn't fit the e30 too well...Plus, you hit the buttons when you're driving.

such a bitch! i added the push button module for an aftermarket deck into a x5. was not easy to say the least.

have fun busting your but for a shortcut button on a steering wheel.

remember this is an e30 and simplicity is where its at.

the only hard part is getting a wheel with controls that will fit the e30 column (early e39 maybe?).

after that it is just a matter of connecting the SWI-RC module to the wheel (obviously you'll have to run your own data line in the column) programming it, and done.

                      it's been done on e34s.

if you have a CD43, you just connect the data wire directly to the head, no module needed :)
